Executive Director

Abu is a young talented development practitioner with over 15 years’ experience in development practice. He began his career in development work as a project formulation and management consultant. He successfully managed various projects and huge budgets from various international development organizations including the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) where he rose through the ranks to become a Senior Program Manager in its community health programme in Northern Ghana. Abu brings to the team an enviable experience in development work and management cutting across many sectors including but not limited to agriculture & food security, entrepreneurship and skills development, microfinance, child rights, gender & women empowerment, education, health and good governance & accountability.

Abu played key roles in the successful implementation of many donor-funded projects in Northern Ghana. They include among others the Tackling Educational Needs Inclusively (TENI) project funded by the Comic Relief of UK, the EU Food Facility project funded by the European Union, the Banking on Change project funded by the Barclays Bank of UK and the Strengthening HIV/AIDS Response through Evidence-based Results (SHARPER) project funded by the USAID. His sterling leadership in CAPECS resulted in the successful implementation of the Girl Power Programme funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands, the Greater Rural Opportunities for Women (GROW) project funded by the Canada International Development – Global Affairs Canada and many others.

Abu holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in Integrated Development Studies and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. He has many other certifications including a Post-Graduate Diploma in Operations Management. He is currently studying towards the award of a Master of Science (MSc) in International Public Health at the Liverpool John Moores University, UK.

Abu is a revered people’s manager, a results-oriented team builder and listener with inherent skills in managing group dynamics.
