About CAPECS GHANA
Brief Background
Capacity Enhancement and Community Support (CAPECS) was founded to respond to the rising need for a result-oriented and credible local organization in Northern Ghana to protect vulnerable and excluded groups, and alleviate poverty using proven, tested, innovative, market-based and rights-based approaches. The organization previously existed as community-based organization and got incorporated on 2nd March, 2017 and has been engaged in building the capacity of vulnerable people and communities with the view to widening their livelihood opportunities, promoting household economic security, improving health and nutrition, education and protecting the rights of women, children and youth
Our Mission
CAPECS thus exists to ‘empower the vulnerable by creating the enabling environment in their communities to help them realize their talents and exercise them to improve their lives’.
Our Vision
CAPECS is inspired by the vision of ‘a world of freedom in which all manner of persons have equal access to opportunities irrespective of their backgrounds’.
Incorporated Objectives
- To support build stable and peaceful communities, and alleviate poverty among vulnerable people.
- To promote entrepreneurship and skills development for youth, women and excluded populations.
- To promote rights of citizens, especially marginalized and excluded groups.
- To advocate for improved and equitable services delivery.
- To promote health and wellbeing of the population

CAPECS GHANA Operations
What we do
We partner with donors and other organizations in building the resilience of vulnerable people and communities with the view to widening their livelihood opportunities, promoting household economic security, improving health and nutrition, education and protecting the rights of women and children.
Where we Work
CAPECS operates in the northern parts of Ghana with a lot of grassroots presence in the Upper West Region. The organization also has some degree of national presence through its alignment with other organizations to engender its mission.
Intervention Areas
CAPECS’ work revolves around four strategic pillars described below: The sustainability of interventions is central to CAPECS’ work. We take deliberate actions to ensure its interventions achieve maximum impact and stand the test of time.
Sustainable Employment
Skills development and access to micro finance; vocational and artisanal training, saving schemes and linkages with financial services, skills and entrepreneurship development for women and youth, stimulating entrepreneurship and job creation in agriculture and agribusiness etc.

Health and Wellbeing
Supporting Working with the health system in Ghana towards the achievement of Universal Health Coverage by 2030, strengthening community health structures for better health outcomes, promoting healthy living practices etc.

Participation and Social Inclusion
Promoting the inclusion of vulnerable people including children, women, youth, persons with disability, and ethnic minorities in the socio-politico-economic lives of their communities, advocating for their participation in governance and development processes, defending rights, among others etc.

Human Security and Good Governance
Promoting peace, resolving conflicts and ensuring communities are stable for a sustainable community development. We advocate for accountable, participatory and responsive governance and work to promote livelihood security, environmental protection and the conservation of biodiversity etc.
